Miele Dryer Repair
in Orange County.

Cycle times creep up for months before anything is reported.

01 — The machine

What a Miele dryer is like to work on

A T1 is a heat-pump dryer, which means no vent and a condenser doing the work an exhaust duct would do elsewhere. It also means the failure nobody notices: the heat exchanger fouls with lint, drying times stretch out gradually, and no error is ever shown. By the time somebody calls, it has usually been happening for a season.

02 — Diagnosis

What we open one for

Taking far longer than it used to, with no fault shown

The condenser fouling with lint. It is a maintenance item on these dryers and it gets missed because there is no error and no obvious symptom other than creeping cycle times. Cleaning it usually restores the original performance.

Not heating at all

The heat-pump circuit or its controls — a different diagnosis entirely from a vented dryer, and not a heating element.

Water in the base or the tank not filling

The condensate pump or its float. These dryers collect the water they take out, and that path can block.

03 — Parts

Parts and what they cost

Obtainable, at Miele pricing. The condenser is a maintenance job rather than a part, and it is the first thing we look at on a slow T1.

Most dryer jobs land between $150 and $350, parts included, and the $150 minimum service call is part of that rather than on top of it.

When to call Miele instead of us

Miele warranties run longer than most, so check yours before booking any independent repair — including ours. If it is still covered, Miele should be doing the work.

04 — Questions

Answered

Why does my heat-pump dryer take so long now?
The condenser is almost certainly fouled with lint. It is a maintenance item that gets missed because nothing errors — cycle times just creep up. Cleaning it usually restores the original performance.
Do these need a vent?
No, which is why they can go where a vented dryer cannot. The trade-off is that the condenser takes on the job an exhaust duct would do, and it needs the same attention a duct would.
