What a Thermador refrigerator is like to work on
Thermador columns are frequently installed in a tight run of cabinetry, panel-ready and flush — which looks superb and gives the condenser less air than it was designed around. Clearance at the coil is the most common cause we find on these, ahead of anything electrical.
Model lines we service
What we open one for
Column not holding temperature
Condenser airflow first, exactly as on any built-in. Then the evaporator fan or the defrost circuit.
Frost building inside
Defrost heater or sensor, or a gasket on a panelled door that is not seating properly.
One column fine, the other not
They are separate machines. That the neighbouring column works is not diagnostic — it just contains the problem to this one.
Parts and what they cost
Good availability through the BSH chain. Fans, heaters and gaskets are obtainable without long waits.
Most refrigerator jobs land between $150 and $450, parts included, and the $150 minimum service call is part of that rather than on top of it.
When to call Thermador instead of us
A lot of Thermador in this county went into homes built in the last few years, so check the manufacturer warranty before booking anyone — including us. If it is still live, Thermador should be covering the repair.
Answered
- A lot of these are in newer Irvine kitchens. Does that matter?
- It matters for the warranty. Much of the Thermador in the eastern villages and Tustin Legacy is young enough to still be covered, so check before booking anyone including us.
