Near the water, salt air is the constant — it reaches terminals and control boards and corrodes the electrical side long before anything mechanical wears out, so coastal faults look random when they are not. Inland at Talega the story is ordinary suburban wear on machines that are all reaching the same age together. The drive is the other factor: this is the far end of the county and the afternoon traffic on the 5 is real.
